seeking a typical Italian restaurant in the heart of genes, I fell on this one, the reception was cold no proposal entry no help on the choice of dishes no explanation on dishes not speaking Italian it is complicated to get understood wine served in a normal glass? , but by this the kitchen is good but in small amount damage View all feedback.
We stumbled across il fabbro while wandering around Genoa. Full of rustic (even though in the city) the staff was so helpful and friendly guiding us through the menu. Within minutes of taking our seat for lunch the place filled up with a lot of locals. When the food arrived we could see why. Everything we had was delicious I loved the rabbit.
We ended up at this place, right next to our hotel, because all our other choices for the evening were closed or full. The server was very willing to please, but the food was no more than acceptable, so I would say it is OK in a pinch but not highly recommended.
I came here on my own during busy lunch hours and we're amazed over the high quality of food and the very affordable prices. I had a pasta a la norma which was delicious. Very cosy and authentic little place.
We stayed in an apartment on the square and popped in for lunch one day. Tiny little restaurant (I suppose in summer they can utelise the space outside) with excellent traditional Ligurian food with a bit of an oriental touch here and there. The place was packed for lunch with people queuing for space. Service is quick (only two waitresses run the service like clockwork) and the food delicious.
The menu is handwritten on a chalkboard and features some local specialties. The bread was fantastic with a crunchy crust and a non-spongy middle. We started with an appetizer of smoked tuna over fava beans. Then we had linguine with ground duck and a chickpea with chard stew. All were delicious. We were among the first to arrive for lunch but the dining room soon filled up with Italians which indicated the dishes were authentic. Even though there was only one waitress, the service was prompt. We highly recommend Il Fabbro.
