The gambas were delicious, a little spicy, with garlic and tasty gravy mmmm... French fries were ok, I mean, it's French fries. The service was good. Lots of people, full on Friday evening and they did their best! I've read many not very nice opinions on this place and was a little worried about that as we invited some friends... But it turned very well at the end! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about La Espanola:
Good food - not very good service -dull atmosphere (tuesday night). We enjoyed our Parrillada, a good selection of fish. shrimps, mussels, squid and potatoes. Nicely presented and well flavoured. Service almost non existant but pleasant. Shame, they dont make more effort ( it would be nice to be told what fishes were served or where is the wine from). The restaurant has potential not only because of its location but al... I was there yesterday evening, never went there bevor. And let me tell you,I will never go there again! I spent a horrible night in the bathroom after eating there! What was surprising, because the seafood tasted frozen, which was not what I was expecting...or wanting! So if you don't want to spent a long time in the bathroom, loosing your food again Do Not Go There!!!
We have planned to go there for the gambas with a Groupon Voucher. We called one day before and on the phone we have been told that we did not have to reserve and could just come. When we arrived at the manager told...us that he could not give us a table because everything was booked. I was a little suspicious. We went off and called the place with a differnt name on the phone to ask for a table for we were only , and they told us it was no problem. Clearly fraud!
I came here twice with my wife for the gambas a go go. The staff were very friendly to us and got our drink orders in pretty quickly. The first time we went on a weekday evening and the restaurant was pretty empty and our...food came very quickly. The second time, we went on a weekend evening and the restaurant was somewhat busy, about capacity but our food still came pretty quickly. As for the food, we got the gambas a go go, which comes with fries. The fries were very good, but the shrimp was amazing! specifically, the sauce was so flavorful that we ended up finishing the shrimp first and then using the bread and mixing in the fries to soak up all the leftover sauce. Don't get me wrong, the shrimp were cooked pretty well, but the sauce was clearly the main attraction at that performance. They were pretty on top of asking if we wanted more shrimp or fries, which was nice since we did get the a go go option. The only thing is, if you are going to Espanola, don't expect a super fancy restaurant. Some tables are close together so you can hear everyone's conversations. We didn't mind though, as we were so busy stuffing ourselves that we didn't notice until we were finished eating.
Tried it out was alright. There are surely other better spanish restaurants i have tried in the city.
Good all-you-can-eat prawns (gambas) forumla and typical spanish food. Good location minutes from Geneva's train station. Place is not fancy, so not the place to take your important business contact. But recommended for an outing with friends family.
