El Tapatio - Gatesville

Nice, family-run restaurant. Customers are greeted with fresh hot chips and salsa and a smile while sitting. The menu has many choices. The food is freshly cooked to order, and the portions are generous. This restaurant does not serve alcoholic drinks, so no beer or Margherita, but the food is good.

I had a beef-fajita salad, there was not a bunch of salad in a bowl just a little with basic fajita fortifications with guacamole. I was looking for a low carb food and that was a good choice. There were six of us. We had a fast, friendly service and good food! Although the place was full, they were busy enough, don't wait for space.

I drank shrimp, and this place filled the desire. We started with chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa had just enough bite to make it perfect. We added Salsa con queso, but it was really just a yellow cheese sauce and left a little to wish. There was no salsa in or heat on it. It's been good with my tacos. I ended up with two tacos that were more than enough to fill me with the chips and salsa appetizer. We sat long enough to make room for fried ice. I remember asking my mother to buy it for me when I was a child and I was excited to see it on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't live to my memories. I can't blame the restaurant because I haven't had it for so long. It was good - just not as good as I remembered being. This place will be on my list next visit to Gatesville. There were a lot of things I would like to try from their menu and the staff was so pleasant that it negates a mild salsa con queso.

Although there is no Mexican food like at home, some of the best service I had, thank you for your wonderful service.

Incredible food and absolutely outstanding service. I've been going there for over 8 years and they are still my go to for Mexican food.
