My wife and I visited La Barca with my daughter and her partner for coffee one morning whilst in Garrucha. The coffees were lovely but sadly can’t say the same about the service!! The drinks were delivered without a smile or any attempt at conversation, and one coffee was nearly tipped over us without an apology. When we asked for the bill, the chap, who I think was the owner, just came over whilst on the phone and said (in Spanish) what we owed. As our Spanish is not great, my wife just held out a €20 note, which he snatched out of her hand whilst still conducting his telephone conversation. We waited a while for our change and when he brought it over he virtually threw it on the table! Needless to say, we didn’t leave a tip and certainly won’t be returning.
It’s alright, very expensive, staff aren’t very happy, food is average, greasy squid. Wouldn’t bother to rush here
After reading tripadvisor reviews we decided to give it a go. Unfortunately our paella was rather salty and seafood was rather on small side. Kids have grilled chicken which was ok. Would rather not return.
We had lunch in the week and this looked busier than other places on the seafront. The service was a little slow (although it was late for lunch and everyone else was finishing as we started) and the waiter spoke little English though more than the Spanish we spoke! but we ordered Garrucha prawns and smoked salmon on toast as starters and a seafood fideua for main course. The red Garrucha prawns are very expensive but a local delicacy so we wanted to try them. They were delicious and worth it. The fideua was also delicious.
