Feedback
What an experience. The food combination is amazing. All taste are genially balanced and the wine matching package is a must. The decor is fabulous.
Unusually perhaps, we had not reserved or expected to stop at Alexandre 's restaurant . Friends were arriving at Nimes airport and we were ahead of time to pick them up. Signs led us to Alexandre 's and we happily found a table for 2. The ambiance was exquisite, beautiful views on all sides with flowers and banners of fabric in bright blue. Because we did not have hours to spend, we took items off the menu--courgette blossoms stuffed with truffle mousse for the entree and a combination of shrimps and squid grilled and served with lobster and crab. First arrived and exceptional radish sorbet which was so delicious and cooling, we wanted a second helping (possible). The squash blossoms with truffles could not have been better--perfection in every bite and the lightness was a miracle. Even the little spirals of courgette flesh surrounding the blossoms were delicious with sauce from the mushrooms and truffles. The second course was not such a success. While the grilled shrimps were fine, the squid was very tough (I 've live in Greece for 30 years and know it can be better with beating in the rocks). The most disappointing was the lobster and crab melange. It was like a little sandwich made with a paste of the two cooked together for a long time with shells. Nothing tasted of lobster--some flavor from crabs--but when you say lobster and crab on the menu, there should be some presence of them at $56 a plate. I come from New England where our favorite food is lobster. I can forgive less crab, but not no visible sign or even taste of lobster? Both my husband and I had the same reaction which does not happen so often. We tasted but did not enjoy the little 'sandwiches of lobster and crab. The dessert trolley was an astonishment--but we could not enjoy with limited time. Patrick tried the thyme sorbet--fabulous--and the strawberry--incredible. We loved the space, we loved everything about the restaurant--just not the dish with Lobster and crab.
