Vandevoorde Olivier - Gand

This afternoon I chose this place for a quick bite just outside the center of Ghent. It is a five-minute walk from the Vrijdagmarkt. You can get sandwiches here, but we also saw croque monsieur (from the pan) and spaghetti. Friendly service. I chose the tuna sandwich (Edith Piaf) and my partner the salmon salad sandwich (Brigitte Bardeau). Tasty, but sandwich could be a little crispier. It was pleasant to sit there. The bill wasn't too bad either.

Charming place near the city centre. Excellent baguettes, croque monsieurs and soups for a competitive price. Would definitely recommend this for breakfast or lunch.

Unfriendly service, even if you are kind enough to bring out your best French (lady only speaks French, but with all due respect for that). Sandwiches are too expensive for their quality (6 euros for bread with salad, lettuce leaves, slices of cucumber tomato and egg). Mayonnaise was sour and was replaced by everyday jar. You feel very unwelcome if you are not a regular guest.

This place was not busy when we went there for breakfast. They had great fresh baguette sandwiches and decent coffee. Great spot for breakfast, it’s underrated. I just wish they had a menu in English but overall had a good experience! Service: Dine in Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: €1–10
