Had dinner here with some friends the last weekend of October. Very quick and easy to book a table. Very cosy with a great atmosphere and good music played low enough where you could converse with no difficulty hearing others. All staff were very welcoming and friendly. What User doesn't like about The Universal:
tapas bar is an exact description here. not helpful to a conversation about dinner, as the music was very loud and tables too close. we were a party to sit on a table, only about big enough for eating was from tapas shares, so works out expensive. small menu, but eating was delicious. very expensive. not enough to tempt me again. I am giving this restaurant four stars based on the reviews and pictures, as I have not visited yet but believe it is worth a try.
We ordered 7 dishes for our group of 4 and each one was cooked to perfection and delicious. From the lamb chops and sole to the cabbage and padron peppers, as well as the crab and delightful desserts. The cheese plate was also a highlight, showcasing great examples of different cheese styles. It's clear that the staff has excellent knowledge and passion for food. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was nice and casual. They also had a great selection of craft beers on tap. We can't wait to come back. And I personally loved the delicious wild local chanterelles that were in season.
The owner deserves all my respect. I entered the space with friends, I was hungry, and the kitchen was closed. As a last hope he went to the kitchen counter to ask for some food because he was hungry, the kitchen was closed, he went to the bathroom, when he came back he had a salad and two slices of bread for free. Thank you for your gesture
I'm really happy I decided to visit this restaurant. The staff is kind, the food is amazing, and the drinks are top-notch!
This restaurant is extremely tasty. The standout dish is the baked eggplant, which was surprising given the other menu choices. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a diverse group of customers. I wish this restaurant was in London so I could visit every week.
