Description

Mixed emotions surround the dining experience at Mcswiggans in Galway. Some visitors found the food disappointing, with dry chicken and tough steak. Others were pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of their dishes. Service received mixed reviews, with some calling it efficient while others reported rude and unwelcoming staff. Despite the varying opinions, many agreed that the pub offered classic pub fare at standard prices. Overall, the restaurant seems to offer a hit or miss experience, but those who enjoyed their meals highly recommend trying the seafood and Irish coffee.

Very relaxing pub environment. Friendly staff . Food offerings that differ based on where you are seated is quite unusual. Depending on where you are seated, the menu changes ? Not sure why that is a thing . The charcuterie board was excellent! Our food was delicious, the fish was crispy outside and light flaky inside.Very fresh and tasty . The chips were a bit undercooked, and a bit too soggy . The fish portion was very respectable. The pie of the day was Pork. Tasty although slightly overpowered by a sage seasoning. There was a honey glazed bacon chop as a special which was very good itself. A mustard sauce pairing was exceptional! The mashed potatoes were very dry and under seasoned, they tasted like they were made the day before. Great drink offerings with specials and Fine wines and draft beers. !

The apps and entrees were good. Service was very good. A little noisy sometimes so dinner conversation was a challenge. Dessert options were limited and our selection wasn't very good. It was the strawberry balsamic with marscapone dessert but not seeing it on their online menu. Again the apps and main course selections were good

Come here over the weekend for an early dinner with a friend. The food was out of this world, my friend felt his fish was a little on the small side and I probably could have done with a bit more veg on my plate but all in all a good meal and I would certainly return. I had a the pork chop, it was honestly the best I'd ever had. The Guinness was a decent pint too.

We stopped in on a whim on a Sunday evening around 7pm. This place is HUGE. We didn't quite realize the scale of it when we first walked in(and there are a couple of entrances). We walked into the bar side where a trad session was taking place. It was our first experience hearing the traditional Irish music. It was a lovely treat! We then went to the far side to try to get a table. At first, I thought we were in the right spot...but, no. The restaurant is upstairs. So, up we went to find another bar and seating area. There we ordered a pint and waited for a table. It was a short wait and then we were taken up a couple more flights of stairs to our table. This place just keeps on going! Lol We ordered raw oysters for me and finished the pint from downstairs. Simple. Delicious. Lovely. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and prompt.
