Visitors to The Cellar Bar in Galway can expect a welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and generous portions of tasty food. While the chicken and broccoli pasta may be too heavy for some, the bangers and mash and Irish breakfast are highlights. The bar offers a good selection on the menu and drinks, although the service can be a bit rushed at times. Overall, this establishment is worth a visit for both food and drinks, particularly during busy times like the Galway Christmas Market. The southern style fried chicken is a standout choice, and the attentive service adds to the positive experience.
Popped in for lunch, unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to spare before a train departure. Nevertheless I had my order taken immediately, my drinks brought to the table and as requested, the bill when the food arrived. Everything was spot on , I had the fish and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will return when I have more time especially as I missed desert and coffee .
İ recommend it as very good place, I had a problem ordering a dish and the staff was extremely professional to solve it.
Great local pub with exceptional food. The Bangers and Mash were the best that we have had here so far .Good atmosphere and price was affordable.
A Galway classic you can always rely on The Cellar is a Galway staple and one of those places you know you can always depend on. It’s an old reliable in the best possible way. The food is consistently excellent, the portions are generous, and the prices are fair, which isn’t always easy to find anymore. Whether you’re dropping in for a casual meal or bringing someone who’s visiting Galway, it never disappoints. It’s been doing what it does well for years, and that consistency is exactly why it’s such a favourite. Proper comfort food, a solid pint, and great value.
Not as good as it used to be. Portion sizes and quality of food have taken a noticeable downturn since I last visited a year ago. We had to switch tables as the whole floor of the restaurant was vibrating and it was difficult to have a conversation due to a band practising smashing drums as hard as they could in the basement below, it's shame as it used to be a great little venue
