The red chili sauce was smoky and flavorful. The ground beef inside the stuffed sopapilla could use more seasoning. Pleasant place but doesn't stand out from the many restaurants in this town serving a similar menu. View all feedback.
What Malia P doesn't like about Don Diegos:
Never had sopaipilla before or know what it is. I googled it first. The images and descriptions didn't look like the massive beast that was served. This resembled more of a wet burrito with a thicker tortillas. It was loaded with filling: ground beef, guac, beans, cheese and sauce. It wasn't bad. It's big enough to feed 2 people. They gave free chips and salsa for the table. Service was good and fast. View all feedback.
The red chili sauce had a delightful smoky flavor. However, the ground beef in the stuffed sopapilla could benefit from a bit more seasoning. It's a nice enough spot, but it doesn't really distinguish itself from the numerous restaurants in town that offer a similar menu.
We arrived here together and we departed together. What is truly remarkable about this place is its ability to bring people together.
The food arrived quickly, and the service was very friendly. However, that’s where the positives mostly ended. The rice was quite disappointing—overly tomato-flavored and lacking any seasoning. The beans were whole instead of refried, which might be a Southwest style, but they were just average. As for the fish tacos, they had a peculiar taste that I couldn't quite identify with my first bite. They used what appeared to be a grilled fish fillet, which I appreciated since I've had fried fish tacos that tend to be very filling. Maybe the flavors just didn’t blend well for me, but I ended up finishing everything. Overall, my experience was just okay. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone; while the staff was nice, I didn’t find the food to be good. I’m sure there are better options in Gallup.

Family owned restaurant. Delicious greenchille great stop off the highway. Doesn't get more authentic than this. Everything is made from scratch.
