Extensive menu, excellent house wine, family/local atmosphere. Priced very reasonably. Very busy obviously a favorite of the locals. Very little English spoken, but no barrier to good food and good times! View all feedback.
What ZZDaveZZ doesn't like about Il Bucaniere:
I went for a farewell dinner with colleagues. We couldn't pick up a la carte plates, we've been given a fixed menu really simple, not well cooked. I felt like the cook didn't take care of any aspect, even the most elementals. The service was fair enough. When I left, I was just content, nothing more. View all feedback.
The food took forever to arrive and was not good quality...most likely frozen instead of fresh. No extra bread, and had to beg to get more water. The place was understaffed so it was no surprise the wait was long, and the waiter(only one! did not come around to ever ask if we needed anything. The owner was sullen, and just plain rude...he brought the appetizers and when he saw our children, while waiting, were drawing pictures he said in an almost angry tone to take the crayons/paper away because he needed a lot of space to put things down. The decor of the place was pretty tacky...sort of 'retro ' but not in a good way, and the dished were also out of a sort of 1970 's cookbook...crustaceans on beds of iceberg lettuce and champagne cups with shrimp cocktail on beds of wilted mix salad...terrible. It is cheaper than other places...but really it 's worth it to spend the extra couple euros and go somewhere else!
Local bistro serving excellent seafood, pasta and pizzas. Obviously very popular with local clientele as we were the only Brits.
We ate there twice. The food and wine were excellent. Lots of families and children. Very enjoyable. The restaurant is a tuck into a small alley, but it has a large parking lot. We rented an apartment that was only two blocks away, and all the locals frequented this restaurant. I had never realized that Tuscany is also famous for beef. I had been eating pasta the entire time. We ate there for our last meal in Italy, and I ordered a steak. It was much larger than I had anticipated and was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. Very few tourists. Absolutely loved it.
I went there recently with former classmates. Very slow service. We asked us to come and take the orders, the first pizzas arrived after an hour of waiting. Who opted for the cuisine, good fish starter. Mixed grilled fish looks excellent but inedible. The pizzas were rubbery and had poor quality mozzarella .
As always a restaurant with good food and pizza also for takeaway!!! Well equipped for the covid-19 situation, you enter and you are not afraid of contagion. This is from my point of view and modest opinion. I recommended and highly recommend going and enjoying a good dinner or lunch, or if you really don't have much time, takeaway is also not to be overlooked!!! Enjoy your meal!!!
