In search of a seafood restaurant before leaving Blacksburg after months of working there, I came across Colonial Fish Camp. Although the name might suggest otherwise, it was more of a restaurant than a camp. I'm glad I decided to visit, as I was pleasantly surprised by the inviting atmosphere and the delicious seafood dishes.
This was my first time trying food from this restaurant and I was not impressed. My friend and I called ahead to order 2 Calabash chicken dinners with fries and coleslaw. When we arrived, only one meal was ready and we had to wait for the second one. By the time it arrived, my food was cold. To make matters worse, the bill came to $28 for the two dinners, which I thought was way too expensive. I could get the same meal from Fatz Cafe for less money and have it hot and ready. Additionally, when I asked for extra sauce, they only gave me a small amount without considering how much I wanted to pay for it. The coleslaw was the only highlight of the meal, but even the iced tea tasted like it had been sitting in the refrigerator for too long. Overall, I don't think I will be returning to this restaurant.
The food is delicious, the service is quick, but the seating area is small and can feel cramped. If dining in, there may be a short wait to be seated at times.
Looking for a Seafood restaurant before I left town in Blacksburg after spending months working there I found Colonial Fish Camp don't let the name fool you it's more like a restaurant than anything but I'm glad I decided to go there instead. If I had only knew about it sooner dang! They load you down with your money's worth and it was great Seafood.
