What BM doesn't like about King Of Donair:
I don’t know how it’s possible that the donairs from here are always cold. The meat is cold. The wraps are cold. Yet I go back again and again and every single time, cold. Not anymore. For a place called KING of donair you’d think it would be the best donair around. More like Jester of Donair. Try somewhere else if you’re looking for a good donair. Service: Take out View all feedback.

My wife and I visited King of Donair in Lacewood for the first time today. Great service (the lady servicing us took time to wash her hands after handling the till, which not all food servers do) and she was very pleasant and efficient. We thought the food was good and well priced! Highly recommended!! The one negative for us was that using our debit card led to us being prompted to pay a tip (which is normal), but then, surprise King of Donair charges you a 40 cent merchant surcharge for spending your money there ! Sneaky and poor business toward your customers. It wasn’t much and we reluctantly paid it but after reading that others feel equally duped by the secretive nature of the charge, management would be wise to absorb this fee.

It's been a while since I had a donair. It's been even longer since I had a king of donair and it was even longer still since the last time I had a king of donair and at at the restaurant. It was a rainy night and I had the place to myself. I ordered a regular donair and a Coke. Maybe I'm cheap but $12.89 set me back. I ordered it with little or no onion and I don't know how much was on it but it was the right amount. I had forgotten that the meat is so tasty and spicy that a bunch of chunky raw onions overshadow the other flavors. I took a stool at the bar table and looked out into the rainy parking lot. I peeled back the tin foil and ate it like an ice cream cone. The tomatoes were a little cold and so was the sauce. I'm sure people would argue, but I don't think the sauce should be eaten on its own. There's a certain magic that happens when it warms up and mixes with the oils and greases of the meat. I didn't wait long enough for this magic to fully materialize but I did experience it near the end of the donair. Next time I'll know to wait a little longer so that all the ingredients can fuse and bind together to create something that's more than the some of the parts. The donair tasted just the way it should and though it was reasonably packed. It would have been a nice surprise to find one or two pieces with some char or a crispy edge. As I savored the last bites, I couldn't help but reflect on how King of Donair has been a cornerstone for as long as I can remember. I'll be back again sooner than the last time and look forward to eating it like an ice cream cone on a stool facing the parking lot come rain or shine.
