An oasis in the desert in fact that’s the new name for this elegant old line National Park lodge. Just like its counterparts at Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Grand Canyon it is a must visit place. It is undergoing a renovation, which is a good thing as it was becoming shabby elegant. Drinks on the deck at sunset terrific. So is dinner outside if you can snare a table. The dining room though is historic. Service is spotty. Food is surprisingly good although pretty much National Park style. A bit on the pricey side, but it’s a long way for supplies to come. A dress code for dinner, but it is not always enforced. They should either enforce it or do away with it. Go for the experience not the food, although the food is better than you expect.
