One review mentioned he would book the restaurant before booking... read more I tried to get in to the Wanderer a couple of times as I had seen the reviews on Trip Advisor. One review mentioned he would book the restaurant before booking his flights, so we did just that to make sure we could experience what everyone was talking about. I am so glad we persevered because it was truly a Culinary Delight. Myself and the real CEO (Sarah) along with my brother and his wife had one of our best evenings ever. Chef and owner Selim adds massive value by taking the time to explain the ingredients and how he came to find them, invent and cook them, every dish was designed to perfection and paired excellently with a drink. We have eaten all over the world in top Michelin Star restaurants and the Wanderer is equally one of the best value for money eating experiences without a STAR....!!! Well Done, Thank You Selim and Team for our unforgettable evening, I do hope we get to meet again.

It works wonderfully well, the guys have created a wonderful ambience at their restaurant. The offerings are exceptional, pairing a dish with a very strong stout amazed me! Part of what makes dining at The Wanderer so special is that it is an intimate experience. In our case, it was just the five of us, so we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. We were greeted by Christian, who welcomed us with delicious cocktails and appetizers, then introduced to Selim who explained how the evening would go. Each course was innovative, delicious and presented with a backstory, a connection to Madeira using locally sourced ingredients. My husband kept saying how much the experience reminded him of watching Chef's Table on Netflix. Highly recommend making this a stop on your trip in Madeira!

Even now. Selim still creates new tastes working his magic on ordinary ingredients elevating them to new heights.Dining here is a must for all lovers of fine food who crave a whole new culinary experience in unique surroundings. Christian was attentive and fitted in so well obviously enjoying his role and we did get to meet Joao who was working quietly in the background. Teamwork certainly makes the dreamwork here. We did miss Charlotte’s pretty smile though. Thank you all for another delightful evening sharing your table with other appreciative diners. We will be back!
