The service... read more Eating by the poolside was always a pleasure. The variety of dishes on offer suited me very well at the end of a morning of sunbathing and swimming. The service, sometimes a bit slow, was friendly. Amongst other things I ate gazpacho, egg salad and avocado wrap, all of which were delicious. I also had more than a couple of passionfruit mojitos!

We had the lunchtime buffet here, and the Summer Sunday evening buffet on a different day! Bear in mind that Reid's has a Michelin starred restaurant and is a 5 star hotel.....at the Pool Terrace you get the benefit of that class of kitchen in buffet format. At both the lunch and evening buffets, the cold array was extensive and out-of-this-world delicious, and beautifully presented . If only I could have managed to eat more than 4 or was it 5 in the end?? of those amazing little individual desserts.....quite apart from the cheeses. And on the Sunday evening water and wine is included in the price, plus an excellent jazz combo. And in addition to those wonderful cold dishes and desserts there is an extensive range of hot/barbequed meat, fish and veg....including traditional Madeiran specialities. It's just a shame they only serve it on Sunday evenings! Look, this is a 5 star hotel so ti's not cheap. But we felt it was definitely worth it for both lunch and dinner.
