We wanted to visit the sacred arts museum on the praca do municipio on the last day in madeira, but we were looking for a place to lunch, and there were o que,... read more We wanted to visit the sacred arts museum on the praca do municipio on the last day in madeira, but we were looking for a place to lunch, and there were o que, right on the square, with shaded exteriors. the location was perfect, the service was friendly and attentive, and eating was excellent and cheap. we had a perfect farewell to madeira meal: cadjau croquettes, espada fish sandwich on bolo de cocos, washed with coral beer, and a wonderful large divided nata with our coffee for desert.

The v... read more A place a lot of locals eat/ snack/ drink coffee, they obviously know the places for good food, service . not tourist rip off prices that are around here. The view of the square the church is a very good bonus. The staff spoke very good English so my Portugese wasnt put to too much pressure. If you are missing your latte while in Madeira then get a Galao here at a fraction of Costas price even if you have to have it with soya milk. We called for an afternoon coffee were lucky to be treated to see the guests bride arrive at the church across the square for a wedding.

Interesting this year that we could be picked out as tourists as they locals were not drinking alcohol.
