This restaurant is roughly half way in the journey from Funchal promenade to the Pestana Grand. You have done the climb by the Governor's Residence and after this it is flatter. We stopped to have a frozen coffee on a hot day. Carefully made, and NOT all ice cubes it was just what we needed. Thank you. View all feedback.

So good we went twice! On face value it looks like a cafe BUT with its indoor and outdoor seating area this place will be very popular being next to a massive hotel that is being built. The food was excellent and the staff jolly and eager to please. The smoked salmon salad was wonderful. Approx 20 Euros for two mains and two beers.
Stayed only a week in Funchal but my friend and I were drawn back to this restaurant three times. We found it to have a pleasant homely atmosphere and staff were all very friendly. Alexandra in particular, made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her. The food was all freshly prepared, nicely presented large portions and everything we tried was delicious. for lovers of scabbard with banana recommend Karisma's version with the passion fruit sauce. Their kebabs were also good as were the prawns in wild rice. Should we return to Funchal in future we will definitely return.
This Karisma Restaurante serves brilliant food...the people are nice, great drinks, nice decor, lovely wine, and lots to choose from the menu. Location is amazing, service is fast and it is not very expensive, we would highly recommend you visit this place!
After a week back in England we still have great memories of the meals we had at Karisma during our holiday in Madeira. José prepared us five delicious meals, difficult to pick our favourite. This was the third holiday when we had eaten at Karisma and we are now recognised by the proprietors, Paulo and all the staff. As we said in our earlier review, don't just walk by. The food and service are excellent and everybody does their utmost to please. Looking forward to our next visit.
