A complimentary glass... read more We were a party of 8 celebrating a special birthday. On arrival, we were met with a warm welcome and shown to our nicely positioned table. A complimentary glass of Madeira wine was greatly appreciated. Two of our party’s first choice of cuisine wasn’t available but a suitable second choice was made. It took a while for the food to come but this can he forgiven as the staff obviously wanted to deliver the fare at the same time. The Caribbean prawns came out lukewarm which really put my family off, so this was returned. The staff offered to bring it back hot, which is a no-no for a fish dish. This may have been lost in translation but even though they then said a replacement dish, my guest was spooked enough to decline any more food. The espetadas were tasty but again not very hot, whilst the pork was very tough. The lasagna however, was excellent and hot. The owner bent over backwards to appease the situation, which was very kind. He brought more complimentary drinks, a lovely cheese platter, a free bottle of wine and significantly reduced the bill. By then the party was unsettled so we paid up and left. The owner was extremely apologetic on our exit. Bottom line, nice location with views out to sea but disappointing food.

With a gorgeous view of the ocean and surrounding flora, relaxing piped in music, and caring service, my hubs and I enjoyed a highly enjoyable late lunch this afternoon. We were treated to a complimentary glass of Madeira wine when we arrived and ordered a bottle of sparkling wine to accompany our lunch. In addition to the requisite buttery and garlicky Bolo de Caco, we tried a starter of Asparagus au Gratin. This is how you make veggies decadent enough to get Mommy to eat them! Large asparagus spears were slathered in cream sauce, blanketed with cheese, and baked. I will never NOT order this dish there again. Having a light appetite, I tried the Spanish Tortilla which was served hot and just right. The hubs ordered the House Style Steak, which was cooked to a perfect rare temp per his request. It was served lolling in an almost stroganoff-style creamy gravy and laden with fresh mushrooms with potatoes and veggies on the side. SO good! Apple Strudel with Ice Cream was comprised of tender apples, spices, and golden raisins enrobed in crispy pastry and served with a scoop of what I think was actually excellent vanilla gelato on the side. It was swoonworthy and just the right size. Do not mistake Come Together for a tourist trap when you walk past it on the Lido area of Monumental. It is anything but.
