We ate here on our third night in Funchal the 3 course menu was 39 euros per person including wine. the food was good my wife stared with Prawns and Avocado cre... read more We ate here on our third night in Funchal the 3 course menu was 39 euros per person including wine. the food was good my wife stared with Prawns and Avocado cream this was not quite what it seemed it was chopped prawns mixed in a sauce with a lot of onions making for an overpowering assault on the taste buds that part was dissapointing. I had the Beef Carpaccio which was very pleasant, my wife had Dorada as her main course which was very nicely cooked and presented, i had the Beef Wellington which was excellent. My wife had cheese to finish and i had a lime mousse both of which were very acceptable. The wine was also very pleasant.

While at first the service was a... read more We did not realise, that when it is a themed dining evening, the menu is not A'La Carte as such, but a more limited basic menu. While at first the service was attentive, it got worse. We both selected different meals which came out 5 minutes apart. So the food was quite good, but the service not as good as we expected for a hotel of this reputation, in my opinion only.. and quite expensive too. £35 for 3 course set, food only)
