During a stay at the French Lick Resort we made 1875 reservations. What started as a bad experience turned around pretty fast. The hostess was less than accommodating, we arrived 30 minutes early and hoped to either come early or maybe have a drink at the bar. The answer we got was “m well you can wait in the lobby for 30 min” when we got set the terrace as it was a nice night... we were the only couple on the terrac... View all feedback.
Stay at West Baden Spring Hotel and decided to try out their fine dining option. I made reservations, but I think you can go. Food quality is good, but you are expected to pay a good amount for a meal, two of us with a glass of wine, an app, two entrees and and a desert with tips was $200. The environment was pretty cool and the staff was pretty nice. It could be that I don’t usually go “Fine dinning”, but I thought our server was very slow pace as it took him a bit too long to do everything. Overall a pretty good experience!

The answer we got was “m well you can wait in the lobby for 30 min” when we got set the terrace as it was a nice night... we were the only couple on the terrace of a possible 10 tables) long story short not expected, set early. From there, experience has improved dramatically. Our waitress was fabulous, the food was great and even brought my fiancée dessert for his birthday. Without a doubt the best choice for fine food in French Lick.
My wife and I visited 1875 for the second time this month, our first visit was 2011. My wife and I have visited more than our fair share of steakhouses, including many high-end steakhouses, and while we all like it, the Ribeye is our decision. Without exaggeration, the rib we had on our last visit is easy in the three top steaks we've ever had. Well trimmed, perfectly coked and exceptionally delicate even compared to other first-class ribeyes we enjoyed. Both her beef supplier (which is local) and her cook really do something here.
My wife and I stay at West Baden Springs Hotel for a few nights. We wanted to go somewhere special and 1875 was recommended. Some of the reviews were a little critical and left us a little uncertain that we follow on our reservations. But on behalf of both of us we have zero regrets about the food there, it was so good! The steaks were amazing, the soup sides were great, the cocktails were good, and the service was impeccable! That could be one of the best steaks I've ever eaten and that comes from someone who eaten steaks from L.A. to Dallas to Paris. They brought us some chocolate-covered strawberries for our anniversary to celebrate. The only thing that made my experience a little better was if they had designs of beer (bottles only), but not biggie! Everything was great and no concern for Covid-19, as they had good precautions and protocols. The price is equal to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, but we both agreed in 1875 was better! This place easily gets a 5-star rating and we will be back!
I had the salmon last time I was here. It was great. You have to try the lobster bisque and the tomato juice. They add bourbon smoked pepper to the tomato juice, it's delicious!
