Was Torben Römer at Eichhalde a mag?
it is quite difficult to find a restaurant on Sunday evening that will meet a bit better requirements regarding the kitchen. in the inner city almost everything is closed on Sunday night. here is open. the kitchen is kreatiw at very high level. here they have fun cooking. I have the impression that people in Freiburg do not have the local on the screen. that's a mistake. there is also a wonderful wine selection, a di... View all feedback.
What Annika Wiese dislikes about Eichhalde:
The restaurant offers in nice surroundings a kind of creative cuisine, not bad, but actually only about ca. half of the dishes they offer are really a success. Service is good and friendly. View all feedback.
For years I have found this place outstanding, but it has gone even better. From time to time there is a mini menu, which means about 10 different courses in smaller portions to choose from. Not only do they look delicious but they also taste so.The choice is hard to make. I wonder how a chef is capable to cope with such a variety. Prices are absolutely justified, not cheap but worth every cent. On top of that there are two more regular menus on offer.Service is friendly, the newly decorated two rooms very pleasant and adapted to the different seasons. For me it is always a joy to return.
It was our first meal at the Eichhalde and it will certainly not be our last. We had the Regio and Klassik Menus, both of which came up to our expectations. It was a busy evening for the staff and two mistakes occured which I put down to the pressure on them. We had open wine with the meal, my wife one sort for the whole meal and I had a white to start with and a red for the main course. One of the staff topped up my glass of white from the caraffe containing my wife's wine (a different wine) before I could stop her. When the main course came the dishes were wrongly served despite my questioning - my wife ate my lamb and I ate her beef! A couple of pralinen with the bill would have been a "nice" touch to round off the evening.
My husband and I went for dinner on Valentine's Day. It had a lovely cosy atmosphere in two separate rooms but, at the same time, it had a minimalist, modern, smart feeling to it. The restaurant offers three set menus with a different number of courses and choices. They also have a short à la carte menu, although most people seemed to have opted for the set menus. The 6/8 course menu also offers a wine selection. My husband opted for the 'Regio' menu, whilst I chose the 'Klassik', each with four courses. Each course tasted as good as its description, and was very nicely presented from start to finish. My scallop carpaccio could have had a little more 'zing' from the fresh pink grapefruit, but this was just a minor detail. The 'amuse bouche,' the bread with herby cream cheese and marinated olives was a delicious start to our evening. This is definitely a restaurant where you go to enjoy a special occasion lingering over your food and enjoying the atmosphere. We did get the feeling that our second course had perhaps been forgotten (which it was!), but when it came, it was worth waiting for. Although the restaurant was full, with a lot of couples on this evening, the service was very good - efficient, warm and attentive. There is an excellent reasonably-priced wine selection with a variety of local and international wines. The food, too, was definitely very good value for money. We had been meaning to dine at this restaurant for some time, and were very happy that it exceeded our expectations. One thing to bear in mind, especially on a weekend, is that they do not have a car park, and situated in a residential area, parking nearby can be a bit of a problem.
Outstanding. Exquisite and beautifully presented dishes. Excellent wine recommendations. Attentive service, and the chef himself is very pleasant and attentive to the guests. Italian cuisine at its finest! Highly recommended.
On our return visit today for St. Nicholas' Day lunch at Eichhalde, we were once again delighted by the authentic Italian cuisine, the stylish ambiance with its tasteful and understated Christmas decorations, and the exceptionally friendly, discreet yet attentive service. The value for money at this fine dining restaurant's lunch menu is more than convincing, especially considering the high-quality Italian delicacies prepared with passion and care. Anyone who appreciates Italian cuisine prepared with finesse and meticulous attention to detail should definitely visit Restaurant Eichhalde in Freiburg-Herden. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
