Description

In the heart of Portland lies a restaurant that garners mixed reviews. While some diners rave about its flavorful dishes, generous portions, and exceptional service, others are left disappointed, citing a lack of authenticity and spice. Prized items like garlic naan and chana masala receive praise, yet concerns emerge over watered-down flavors and inattentive staff. Many highlight the restaurant's beautiful decor and warm ambiance, making it a cozy spot for Indian cuisine enthusiasts. However, with suggestions to seek alternatives for a more genuine experience, this restaurant stands as a polarizing destination for local food lovers.

Thoroughly enjoyed dining in here on my solo trip to Maine. The food was so close to home and the owners of the restaurant are really very warm and friendly. They?ve a variety of delightful Indian options to eat and the authentic ambience and theatmosphere will surely make it a memorable one for you! 10/10 would recommend.

Still good but maybe their chef is from a different part of India because the Tikka masala isn't creamy like it used to be.

I have big experience eating Indian food, this restaurant was bad experience. Food not freshly cooked and because of multiple times of reheating was extremely salty. In my understanding lamb kebab have to be cooked freshly, but this kebab was definitelyat least one week before. TRYST me I cook myself every day and I know what I am talking about.

This place has the makings of a great restaurant. The only problem is that the food served lacks any Indian spices or preparation. It was bland and just not Indian at all. Very surprising actually.

Visited Tandoor in Maine recently, I was incredibly pleased with my experience. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable, the waitress (I think her name was Khushi) was very nice, she was super professional and friendly, she was able to answer all myquestions confidently, and was very quick to bring me my drinks and water and made sure I was taken care of. (Definitely tipher, she's an excellent waitress). The naan and butter chicken I ordered was really good and fresh, the naan looked like it wasjust pulled of a tandoor and the butter chicken was creamy, with a perfect amount of masala and spice. The Lassi for dessert wasperfect to finish my meal. I'd recommend Tandoor to anyone craving some authentic desi food in Maine. Thanks again to thewaitress for her service.
