Mexicali Cantina - Frederick

An undiscovered treasure, this spacious and beautifully decorated restaurant may be slightly off the beaten path, but is definitely worth seeking out. Ample parking is available. Guests can choose to dine indoors, at the bar, or al fresco. Wifi is offered for customers. On tap are Dos Equis and Pacifico beers. Fresh chips are served with a zesty salsa. While the menu features traditional Americanized Mexican dishes, don't overlook the gourmet options. I particularly enjoyed the marinated pork. However, the side dishes were underwhelming. The restrooms are clean and the service is attentive.

This is my third visit to this restaurant. The food is good, but today's experience changed my opinion of this place. The food was good and our server was nice. When she handed me the check, I opened it up and to my surprise, found a baby roach sitting on my receipt. It was pretty gross, so I squished it with the receipt and circled it.

When I'm in Frederick, Mexicali Cantina is my go-to spot for delicious Mexican cuisine. They always offer unlimited complimentary chips and salsa, which is a delightful touch.

I believe that many of the positive reviews may be from those who are not knowledgeable about real Mexican cuisine. I found the food to be bland and unexciting.

The food at the restaurant did not match what was advertised on the menu. When I tried to explain the discrepancy, the staff became upset and argumentative. They brought out the same incorrect dish twice. None of the three meals ordered were correct. Surprisingly, no one seemed to care. Overall, the experience was not worth the trouble. The attached picture is supposed to be of fried corn cakes.
