Gabe's Café - Frederick
Gabe's Café
Description
Tucked into downtown Frederick, this classic diner serves hearty, affordable breakfast favorites—pancakes, huevos rancheros, tamales and burritos—in a warm, family-friendly setting with an outdoor patio and wheelchair access. The atmosphere is charming and casual, popular with locals and kids. Service quality varies: attentive servers shine, but occasional mix-ups, small portions and cold items have been reported. Parking can be tight and bar seating may not suit solo diners, but overall it remains a beloved, budget-friendly breakfast spot.

My favorite breakfast spot! The food is incredible, and the service is top-notch. If Talisha is your server, you're in great hands. No matter how full you feel, be sure not to miss out on the cinnamon roll.
When the bill arrived, we still hadn’t received the other half of the toast. The waitress assured us it was coming, and I saw her walk to the counter to grab the half order of toast, which had clearly been sitting there for a while. To top it off, it was white toast, not wheat, and it was cold. There was no apology for the mix-up or offer to compensate us for the toast. In contrast, I noticed another waitress who handled her tables with professionalism and ease. She greeted her patrons warmly, introduced herself, and invited them to return, saying she would be happy to see them again. That’s what great customer service looks like. Unfortunately, it’s clear that our waitress is not engaged in her job and would likely benefit from finding a position that she enjoys more.
The dinner was incredible, offering a distinctive take on traditional comfort food.
Honestly first time here and extremely disappointed! Paid $32 including $10 tip for five burritos. All the burritos are smaller than my hand for $5 a pc. They should’ve explained or had a picture. It’s extremely disappointing and upsetting to get home and realize I’m gonna have to make breakfast on our anniversary anyway.
