Callahan's - Frederick
Callahan's
Description
Callahan's is a small, unpretentious local spot known for generous portions and standout dishes like double crab cakes, cream-of-crab soup, hearty burgers and classic corned beef. Diners praise fresh seafood and attentive servers at times, but experiences are uneven: some report overcooked fried items, undercooked sides, mis‑timed steaks and even spoiled crabs causing illness. A welcoming casual atmosphere and big portions make it worth trying, but expect variability in food quality and service—exercise caution with seafood.

The food and our server Erin were fantastic. Would definitely go back and try more of their menu. Very happy.
The fried items were overcooked and needed to be sent back. The Brussel sprouts were also undercooked, resulting in a disappointing experience overall. However, the server was professional and did his best to address the issues. I ordered the surf and turf, but the steak was thin and cooked medium well instead of the medium rare I requested.
Let's keep this straightforward. They served crabs that were already dead, and the quality was terrible and lacking in flavor. Many of the crabs were watery, soft, and mushy. After the meal, my family and friends who dined with us started feeling unwell shortly afterwards. I strongly advise you to avoid this place if you value your health and are looking for good crabs.
