Monsoon Bar Restaurant

We didn't eat here as didn't have time, but menu looked good and food looked amazing from what we saw coming out. We came here for drinks and loved the atmosphere and general vibe. This is the place to be for a night out in franz josef, great music, pool table, nice choice of drinks. Roaring fire.. ski lodge vibe. Really cosy!

Superrrrrrr Great experience! Super nice night enjoyed. Have to say Monsoon is the best restaurant of my first trip in NZ. Wine and food matches so great. All the people there are very nice! Trust their suggestions! It won’t let you down.

Came for a feed and a drink, and was very pleasantly surprised. Food was unexpectedly good (and that's saying a lot as vego fare can be a kitchens test). Staff were lovely, accommodating, and the drinks were plentiful. Thanks guys, it was a nice way to round out our anniversary.

We came here for dinner as we were staying at the Rainforest Retreat next door and we were pleasantly surprised! Delicious drinks with more than 50 gins to choose from and the food was super tasty. We had the pork crackling to start and my husband had the ribs for a main while I had the cauliflower steaks. Both meals were full of flavour and very filling! We stayed 2 nights at Franz Josef, tried several restaurants and the best one must go is Monsoon ! The food is delicious, not too salty as others places, and prices are very reasonable. The “boss” at the counter taking the order was very friendly ! He kept our wine in freezer to keep it cold after we paid it hahaha ! Thanks bro/mate/boss
