Benji's Deli - Fox Point
Benji's Deli
Description
Benji's Deli has a loyal following, primarily drawn by its comforting matzo ball soup, which many consider exceptional. However, recent visits reveal a disparity in food quality, with dishes often under-seasoned or poorly executed, such as the disappointing Mish Mosh soup and corned beef sandwiches. Customer service experiences have been inconsistent; while some diners praise friendly staff and cozy outdoor seating, others report unsatisfactory responses to order mix-ups. Despite these issues, the deli retains charm, with a menu that features fresh ingredients and inviting atmosphere, making it a place worth revisiting—at least for the soup.

This restaurant review gives Benji's Deli two stars for their nostalgia and matzo ball soup. However, the reviewer is disappointed that a deli of this reputation in Milwaukee does not offer real pastrami. The pastrami served at Benji's is described as thin, hard to chew, lacking flavor, and not fresh. The rye bread and brown mustard are noted as the highlights of the sandwich. The reviewer feels that Waterfront Deli serves much better pastrami, despite their pastrami being precooked and shipped in. The best thing Benji's offers is their beef hot dog, but the reviewer feels they could easily make it at home. Overall, the reviewer laments the lack of pride in the quality of food and service at Benji's Deli.
There is great food and desserts for anyone. You can get from the counter or get table service. It has the ambience of a deli and would suggest.
Food has gone downhill for years while prices have gone up exponentially. Lox bagel and a quart of soup is $26. Brueggers or Einsteins unfortunately blows their bagels out of the water these days. Not what it used to be.
Food is a bit pricey, but everything tasted really fresh, so it 's totally worth it. Lots of flavor and a really nice, cozy atmosphere. There was really only one waitress checking on everybody, but she was great on making sure we were good and taken care of. Not So Italian was great! Can 't wait to go back and try more!
