For starters small downtown Fortville surprised me. Very nice. Taxman seems a bit of a weird name for a restaurant, but that is where weird stops! The atmosphere and decor is great! The food is great and the menu has items you will not find at every other food joint. Service was perfect. Prices were reasonable. This was my first visit and will not be my last. First let me say that nothing was in no way the only server for the whole dining rooms fault. Food was not great, very bland lacking in flavor. At a restaurant of this price point and atmosphere, one would expect their Iced tea to be freshly brewed, not to come from a fountain. Liz was fantastic, 5 star service. The waffles were a fail. First attempt at a waffle, the server forgot about us (not Liz). The food died in the window. The ala mode was completely melted into a puddle, the waffle was spongy, they served it to us anyway. We drank our bottle of champagne and went elsewhere. The second attempt was burnt chicken and a waffle that was so dense I almost couldn’t cut through it. The gluten had seized. Nope.

We dined at Taxman earlier this evening and had a great experience. We moved to fortville about two months ago and have ate at Taxman three times now. Each time has been great from the food to the service. Nikki was our server tonight and she was wonderful! We had our baby and our friends had theirs, she brought them out disposable containers to play with which was super helpful as we went out well past their bedtime. Thank you Nikki for the great service! Dietary restrictions: I have a dairy allergy and they were accommodating! Kid-friendliness: High chairs provided along with friendly staff towards the kiddos
