The Lovat Loch Ness - Fort Augustus

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Lovat Hotel. The location is simply stunning, and the hotel had a warm, homely feel, with beautifully decorated common areas and spacious, well-furnished rooms. Every morning, I would take my tea downstairs to bask in the sunrise coming through the large picture window. It felt cozy, reminiscent of being in a charming country home among good friends. The staff were exceptional! They were incredibly accommodating and professional. Each morning, we savored delicious breakfasts in the dining room and couldn't have been happier. The food was fantastic, and I appreciated that they offered kombucha as an alternative to juice. My favorite dish was the porridge with berry compote. On our last evening, our hiking tour group organized a special dinner, which was a delightful meal with beautiful presentation. We capped off our days with a dram of whisky each night, relaxing by the fireplace. This was truly one of my best vacations, and the staff at The Lovat made it even more memorable.

I stayed here while walking the Great Glen Way and had a great experience. We were in one of the garden rooms, which is separate from the main hotel. The room was very comfortable and included a lovely selection of tea and coffee. I really appreciated the attentiveness and kindness of the staff, especially since my friend was feeling unwell; they managed to get us into our room earlier than usual. The restaurant is fantastic—I could have happily eaten the bannock for every course! I would definitely stay and dine here again.

We had an exceptional experience at Station Road Restaurant. The tasting menu was exquisite, showcasing the remarkable flavors of Scotland with meticulous attention to detail. The staff was outstanding, and their attentive service made us feel as though we were the only guests in the restaurant. We left feeling completely satisfied and very full. The location is conveniently within walking distance if you're staying elsewhere in town, as we were. This dining experience is a must-try and truly stands out compared to anything else we encountered during our travels in the Highlands.

We enjoyed our stay here. Fort Augustus is a cute little town and the Lovat is in the midst of it all. The staff recommended a stunning hike to ‘The Falls’ to us. We thoroughly enjoyed same. The food was pretty good as well. A nice place to stay if you are in the neighbourhood.

The Lovat gave us a warm welcome and we instantly felt at home. Situated close to the Loch and canal gave us the opportunity to walk and appreciate our beautiful surroundings. Our room was bright and the amazingly comfortable bed was elevated so we could see the hills with our morning tea! We now come to the tasting menu. The tastes and textures of the menu was outstanding, we thank the chef for such an imaginative menu. The pairing drinks were not just from an excellent wine list. The drink pairings included a beer, a vermouth and they matched perfectly with the food. This is now the gold standard of tasting menus for us. All the staff were engaging, knowledgeable and a delight. We thank The Lovat for their care and attention.
