I was initially hesitant to visit this restaurant due to the reviews, but I'm so glad we did! It turned out to be the best fish and chips we had throughout our entire trip in Scotland. What stephen m doesn't like about Canal Side Chip Shop:
Visited last week. Thought as it was a Fish n Chip shop they wouldn't be serving Frozen Chips, totally not what you'd expect to get from a traditional Scottish Chip Shop. You're giving good auld Scottish chips a very bad name. Owner, stop being lazy and start using fresh potatoes. View all feedback.

Felt rather scammed as there’s a big sign outside saying “Traditional Fish and Chips” but it was factory-made fish and chips cooked from frozen. Not traditional to my understanding. If you’re a tourist reading this, try to find a proper chippy to taste the real thing.
After a tiring bike ride, we stopped by WC Club late in the evening. The owner was incredibly accommodating, taking our order and even staying open past closing time so we could return to pick it up. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced, and the friendly owner made the experience even better. Thank you!
We had some of the best fish and chips we've ever tasted! My partner and I shared the £8.50 fish and chips, and there was plenty for both of us. There are lovely picnic tables situated along the canal right across from the shop.
