The fish fry, the serv... read more Just had the best experience at the Outpost! We chose it because it had vegetarian options as well as a fish fry, and we are glad we did. The fish fry, the service and the atmosphere were all great. We had a nice seat by the fire, but I imagine in the warmer months it will be just as nice to sit on the patio and look at the lake.

Having grown up in Wisconsin, I have fond memories of Friday lake perch. Now that I live in Chicago, I always seek out lake perch whenever I return home. I take some responsibility for not asking, but in Wisconsin, one tends to assume that when a menu lists perch, it refers to lake perch. Sadly, what I got was ocean perch. To the owner, I recommend labeling this clearly on the menu, as I'm sure I won’t be the only one who feels let down by this.

What a huge disappointment. Won't be back. So bad it isn't getting a second chance. Server was great! Place looked great!

The fish was excellent, with a flavorful batter, and the fries were crispy and plentiful. The waitress was attentive, and we were seated in a cozy side room that had a charming, rustic northern vibe. This was my second visit in the past month, and both times I enjoyed a lovely dining experience. As a bonus, parking is easy and convenient.

And the brat fries are unbelievable. Owners are super friendly and make you feel at home even if you are from across the border.
