The chef/owner and waiter came out to talk to us, they showed the most interest in us compared to everywhere else we ate, and even offered us a guide book to peruse while we waited for our food. The portions were massive and the prices were very reasonable. On top of all that they gave us complimentary bruschetta and cake! We were rolling out of there, we were so full. I had the tortellini alla Panna, it was very good! My husband had some pasta with lobster, he also found it to be delicious! Also, as mentioned in other reviews, there were many cats wandering the restaurant, so maybe not a good place to go if you are allergic. I personally found it to be very charming! Cat cafes are an attraction where we are from.

There aren't any menus, you just eat what the owner has to offer, he looks at you and decides. We had a couple of seafood dishes and finished up with some lovely dessert and meloncello. Go here!

The uniqueness of this restaurant, the welcome of the owner and the rich taste of the food balances off any quality that might make it less than excellent. While staying in Ischia during the off season, we visited La Forestera and found that they were open on weekends. It is in a bit of an out of the way location, but worth the effort to get there. Do not let the appearance discourage you from eating there, as the building appears rustic, and fancy is not a word that applies but that actually makes it better. The owner and his staff are very friendly and welcoming; plainly they want you to enjoy your food. The food is uncomplicated, vibrant in taste and very enjoyable. (When the weather is warmer and the outer areas are open, we suspect you will find a very friendly dog and a number of cats. When we went up during the day to find out about the restaurant and to see if it was open, the dog barked, with a happily wagging tail, and we enjoyed a few moments with him. We did not see him in the evening when guests were expected, which was almost a disappointment. We also noted that of all the restaurants we visited in Ischia, this was the only restaurant to check for our green passes. We saw a menu posted on line, but in this off season the owner came to us and asked what we liked. He then made dishes based on our preferences. We had two very good bruschetta – tomato based and bean based. He then presented a simple pasta dish that was very tasty and satisfying. We finished with a simple dessert. We did not find a wine selection and drank the house white, which went well with our meal. This was a very inexpensive meal for two at 30 euro. While we rate it mid range for cost, for the quality, it was a great bargain. If we are in Ischia again, this will be a “must eat here” restaurant.
