the best of the sun in newent. our usual café/book shop had unfortunately closed. dipped for coffee. beautiful log fire and excellent, reasonable coffee. from for a walk then back for an amazing lunch of the lambskin, well cooked vegetables selection and delicious dessert. we will return. When we entered the tea rooms we assumed it must be closed as the 'front of house ' just stared at us without saying anything. I suggested a table for 2, to which he replied 'what for? ', which was a bit odd. I persevered and said 'breakfast ', so he then showed us to a table. No menu was produced, but he then stood at our table and said 'well?
