I spent 29 years in Hawai'i before moving here 2 years ago, and this is the only place I've found that serves authentic Hawaiian food! I always order The Big One, which includes lomi lomi salmon, poke, kalua pork, chicken rice, haupia, and the best squid luau I've ever had! The service is consistently excellent as well! It's definitely worth the 40-minute drive, but I really wish they'd open a location in Sherwood! View all feedback.
What Aaron Mayr-Mauhart dislikes about Kama'aina:
Under New Mgnt Went for the Bloody Mary and musubi. Musubi was solid! But sadly, no more Bloody Mary's. Nice staff, clean place. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes: Spam Musubi View all feedback.
The Roaming Food Truck recently visited our neighborhood, and I have to say, their poke bowls are outstanding! We ordered for takeout for dinner, and the experience was fantastic. The price per person was quite reasonable, ranging from $10 to $20. In terms of food, service, and atmosphere, I would give them all a perfect rating of 5 out of 5!
The service was excellent. However, the Kailua Pork was dry and lacking in flavor. The Coconut Shrimp was undercooked, making the centers mushy. The salad dressing was tasty, but the lettuce was quite wilted. The macaroni salad was somewhat bland. I was hoping for truly authentic food, as I previously lived in Hawaii, and while it was a bit pricey, the portions were large enough to fill you up.
This location is stellar, until you have to deal with the white staff. More often they are ignorant, arrogant, and rude Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
I really wanted to enjoy the food. We have dined here in the past but some yrs ago. Last night we looked forward to what we remembered and found ourselves disappointed. I ordered the Korean chicken and it was very dry, I was looking for dressing on my salad so I could dip the chicken in to make it less dry. My daughter ordered the poke sample platter and it looked like a hot mess...so much sauce was used on each fish she couldn't tell what fish was what any more. My husband's plate again was good but dry. Then on the flip side my daughter ordered the shaved ice for dessert and it came to the table already drinkable, I kid you not, no spoon needed! We soooo wanted this to be good, but just wasn't.
We popped in and we're warmly welcomed by our server Jessica. She was so welcoming and fun to talk to! And the food was out of this world good! Tried the grilled salmon plate and the ponzu mahi omg so fresh and delicious! Definitely going back to continue the menu tour Dietary restrictions: I have a pretty restricted diet and must eat clean food, can be a challenge when dining out plenty of gluten free, dairy free options Service: Dine in
