After moving to the area this summer we were excited to try the local Mexican restaurant closest to us. But, unfortunately, after 5 visits it seems we just can 't get consistency and a decent product from Ole Ole. Our first visit consisted of us missing an entree and having to drive and wait over 40 minutes to get the item we originally paid for. We were compensated by the apparent owner telling us to let them know next time and they 'd give us a replacement entree. Okay, not a great start in my opinion, but not the end of the world. Everyone makes mistakes and, hopefully, this was just a fluke. Our next three attempts were all tainted by incomplete/ incorrect entrees that were messed up but not awful. For example, one time we ordered 2 quesadillas with no peppers and 1 with peppers- all three had peppers. Again, not the end of the world, but certainly left a few people dissatisfied. Our last attempt, two days ago, was the straw that broke the camel 's back as far as I 'm concerned. I ordered the Nachos Grande and received chips, cheese, and meat with nothing else (no beans, corn salsa, pico, or lettuce . The other order of Steak Nachos had no corn salsa, lettuce, or pico. On the positive(? side, the two quesadillas were made as requested (without peppers but were so greasy they couldn?t be eaten. We were also very surprised to find only one order of chips and salsa for seven entrees. Had seven of us gone to La Carreta (or any other Mexican restaurant and sat at a table, they 'd have brought three or four orders of chips and salsa and refilled them as needed. I really do wish I could say wonderful things about this place. But, unfortunately, we 're done giving Ole Ole our money and will be driving a little farther to get a much more consistent product.
First off I feel the name of this place is easily misleading. This place calls itself a Mexican Grill and Cantina, but it's definitely more cantina than grill. And let's get something straight, Cantina is basically Spanish for Bar. Not that there is anything wrong with a bar, just don't be mislead that this is a legit small Mexican restaurant in the Food Lion parking lot. It's a bar that serves sub-par Mexican food and when I went in, it was playing 2000s Rock music. If you doubt me, just walk into the place, the bar takes up half the inside. Needless to say overall it was disappointing. But, I was there for food, not alcohol, so onto the food situation. I had never been here before but I decided to order a Taco Salad with added Chicken to go. $14 something for the Taco Salad and $4 something for the chicken. It ended up being $19 and some change and then I added a $2 tip to go because the worker was very friendly. Seemed pricy but I already ordered it and went home. Got home and opened the taco salad and it was extremely disappointing. It was simply chopped up iceberg lettuce, chicken, and cheese inside the taco salad shell, with a side of sour cream. Seriously?? Nothing else? No beans? No tomatoes? And if I didn't add the chicken would it have been just iceberg lettuce and cheese? What did I spend 19 dollars on? This chips and salsa added? I didn't even ask for them and did not realize they were included. But even then, 19 bucks? Plus, look at the picture I included, the salad just barely covered the bottom of the Taco shell. Certainly was not a decent portion for $19. Crazy. The reason for two stars is that #1, I technically I got what I ordered and #2 the wait staff was extremely friendly. I removed 3 stars because #1 the price was extremely high, #2 the food was terrible, and #3 they are not a Mexican restaurant. They are a bar trying to serve Mexican food. I know I just ordered a Taco Salad so maybe they have some other meals that are decent, but if this is
Absolutely amazing food, drinks and service! We got quesadillas and let me tell you they were outstanding, fully loaded with meat of choice, peppers, and beans. None of which I usually get on a quesadilla but BOY WAS I IMPRESSED. Awesome service and the bartender Justine is so great!
