My husband and I stayed here for 1 night before our cruise the following day. We love it. The barista at their coffee shop was super sweet and the bell hop was extremely kind and helpful. We are at their restaurant and had the fried avocado appetizer…. Delicious!! The view was gorgeous.. right on the beach. Would definitely recommend. View all feedback.
What Arvilla Hammes doesn't like about Tides Folly Beach:
Pros: beachfront, updated lobby, walkable, restaurant/bar on site, clean. Cons: Room has balcony, but no chairs. It's not really functional. The rooms could use a facelift. Rusted taps, cracked/chiped furniture, bad color touching. Wall AC unit is very loud. View all feedback.
Tides Folly Beach has been my go to spot for vacation at least twice a year.
We needed somewhere to stay for a few nights during a wedding and booked the Tides due to proximity.
Location cannot beat! Oceanfront, new pier and the city right there. Our room was clean and all staff from reception to the market were wonderful! The only problem we had was that our key would stop working every other day, and we got new ones. Other than that, it was a nice time and we will be back,
Tides is a beautiful and comfortable accommodation. From first contact with the reception when booking to check my stay in everyone was friendly and friendly. I give this property 4 stars for their location, friendliness and all cleanliness of the property( Blu on-site restaurant included). Tides is an older property and could use some updates in the room our room especially in the bathroom. The sink had no stopper, the door hinges were rusty and the tub must have removed and replaced the caulking around them. There was a hole in the wall where the door had no proper stopper and the towel hook had hit it before (but now a stopper and the hole painted) (these things did not put a huge damper on our stay, but could use some attention). The Coffee Shop served large Starbucks coffee and had wonderful muffins and souvenirs to offer. Blu(on the grounds restaurant) was also good. They served some of the best tacos and offered a delicious breakfast. I guess Joe goes beyond and beyond in his warm friendly greeting on arrival and walk to the elevator and give us all the details of the area. Stephanie at the desk was also very helpful. What I do NOT recommend, although they do not add additional packages such as the beach bag and Scavenger hunting. You can buy everything in the gift shop and it was among some of the problems we had at check-out. At check-in do not use a debit card. Although I didn't use credit cards and never had a problem before I used my debit card, I was charged 3 times for the deposit (authorized). I also had some difficulty saying the least with charges the prepaid (paid in full advance) reservations seem to confuse some of the employees and I was over a fee. But Philip (the General Manager) and Stephanie were able to clarify things.
I could give only four, this is definitely an older hotel. Some rust on most things metal (door frame, lamp mount, ventilation). Balcony has beautiful views, but it is so tiny there is not space for chairs. They have made some updates, floor looks newer, and vanity in the bathroom also looks newer. The hotel seemed very clean. The room smells like bleach when we arrived. The lobby also seemed to have some updates and seemed clean. The staff was friendly. Loved the heated pool overlooking the sea. This is a pet-friendly hotel and I was afraid of possible smells or noises, but also no problems. In the morning there was no hot water in the shower we checked out. The reception said they checked them right away. Everything thought I'd probably be back.
