Fay Da Bakery - FLUSHING
Fay Da Bakery
Description
Star Bakery offers an array of affordable Hong Kong-style treats, from pineapple and hot dog buns to walnut cupcakes and unique fruit-filled loaves. Though many customers revel in the delicious options and low prices, concerns have emerged regarding inconsistent quality and hygiene, with reports of hair in food and incorrect drink orders. The service has been criticized for a lack of attentiveness and professionalism, furthering disappointment among loyal patrons. Despite these issues, the bakery's charm and variety keep patrons returning, but some are contemplating taking their business elsewhere if improvements aren’t made.

Recently received a parking ticket for 115 dollars for entering star bakery .. great wedding green bean pastry. The parking signs should not only be for commercial parking ... ugh .plus no standing please have someone change.. so people can park occasionally. But, besides that the Star Bakery I'd so yummy..
I thought the prices at this restaurant were surprisingly low. For example, a loaf of raisin bread was only $3. However, I was disappointed when I found two long hairs in one slice when I ate it at home. If the staff doesn't take the necessary precautions, such as wearing hair nets while preparing food, I will not be returning to this establishment.
I purchased a black bean bun, but it turned out to be filled with red bean paste. I was very disappointed and felt deceived, especially since this was the second time it happened. It seems like the baker may have changed. However, I do enjoy their egg custard and almond cookies.
Chicken rolls are awesome and the corn danish is great. ham and egg or hot dogs are way cool since the bread is to die for.
The Star of this Bakery are the custard tarts. Sure, they're not as good as at some of the Portuguese and Brazilian bakeries up in Toronto and over in Newark and around NJ, but they are still pretty tasty, and extraordinarily cheap, which I appreciate. Better than at the New Flushing Bakery nearby, and well worth stopping in to give them a try.
