Biergarten - FLUSHING
Biergarten
Description
Set inside an airport terminal, this beer-focused bar offers a lively, bartender-driven respite for travelers—boasting a decent draft selection, friendly staff, and passable airport fare like bagels and fries. Automated tablet ordering and high prices (including a reported COVID fee and card-only payment) frustrate some guests, and food quality is inconsistent; German-style options are limited despite the name. Best for delayed passengers and beer enthusiasts seeking quick service and a relaxed vibe, not budget diners or those wanting full table service.

One of the non-food court options in this part of the airport. Large tables with iPads at each seat for quick ordering/payment. For a beer garden there aren 't many options aside from your basic draft list. Settled on a New Belgium 12oz Draft $12ish) to go along with an order of Buffalo Wings $11ish). Beer comes out relatively quickly, however after about 15 minutes, realized they had forgotten my food order. Thankfully there are staff roaming around as the waitress quickly rectified the situation. Wings are eight to an order, piping hot and served with ranch and buffalo sauce to the side. Better than I expected; not overcooked or greasy, and easily dunk-able in the side sauces. For airport food, this isn 't too bad at all. Obviously on the expensive end, but it was nice to be able to sit and eat something at a table. There is bar seating as well if that 's your thing.
Stopped here for a drink before boarding my flight, nothing too fancy, the waiters could be more attentive, and the contactless service via the Ipad, was a bit confusing, but it's worth a stop for a drink and it was close to my boarding gate.
Beer: $15-30 EACH! I was here about a month ago and was just totally blown away at how flagrantly this business tries to take advantage of their customers. There is no reason a Goose Island IPA should cost more than $25 DOLLARS. And they're adding on a 10% across the board COVID fee? And they expect me to tip 20% of course. And there's the tax and stuff. SO it's a $25 beer ~40% more in taxes, fees and tips. That's, all in, $35 for a draft American beer, folks. When businesses are just so intent on ripping off their customers it makes me livid. The best advice is to just walk on by. Because you can't afford to drink here. AND WHY SHOULD YOU??
So I'll start by saying this place has the best ratings on Yelp for the terminal I was in, so I figured at least less crappy than the other likely..(a whopping 2 stars). I got a burger.. beyond brutal easily the worst burger I've ever had. Fries were ok. I really indulged with the 2 whole ketchup packets I was given for both the burger and fries Bartenders were very friendly and attentive though. 10/10 don't recommend
As far as airport eating goes, this place isn't the worst. I've had drinks here a couple of times while waiting for flights and the beer and cocktails are ok. Beer is better than mixed drinks for sure at this place. Last time I was there, I had a burger and it was ok, just really messy. Service is ghost-like. You order on an iPad and then you get it dropped off. So if you want more napkins or something, you're out of luck because nobody is going to stop by and check on you. Also, if you are in a rush, it's best to skip this place. Finally, this place is super expensive. But you're in an airport so no matter where you go, you're going to overpay for everything so I'm not letting that impact my rating.
