Beautiful place but very dated, it needs care and a revolution, you can feel that in past years it was a fantastic place. Good cuisine. I reward the will and attention of the owner. They sell dizzying oil and wines of excellent quality but then again we are in the Average by calculating price and quality.
Having been visiting this region of Italy for many years, I only found out about the Petrilli agriturismo this summer from a family member who lives in a village nearby. I am very pleased as we had a brilliant day there with my family (my wife and 3 daughters 11, 8 and 5) and another family (2 adults, 2 kids 13 and 11). If you're worried about your Italian language skills, there are a few younger people on site who speak good English. The site is located within a few minutes drive from the village of Flumeri and is well signposted. We started our day around the swimming pool (only 5 euros a head per day), which is in a beautiful setting surrounded by the greenery of olive trees and interesting water features. The pool's about 1.2m deep, very clean and great for kids and adults. There's a little bar with drinks and ice creams, which are reasonably priced, and the lifeguard is very helpful. Nearby the pool, there's a playground on a grassed area near some horses, which the kids really enjoyed as a break from the swimming. There's also a spa but we didn't get to try it. The highlight of day for the adults' of our party was definitely the lunch. There are 3 menu options we opted for the lower cost of Euro 15 per head which included antipasti (a huge selection of delicious local foods), a plate of very tasty homemade pasta with local sauce and free flowing aged aglianico wine (made at the farm), water and coffee (we were also offered their homemade liquors but declined as we were driving). The people serving were great and really friendly/helpful. It was one of the kid's birthdays and I'd dropped them an email in advance and the chef had prepared a huge and incredibly tasty cake (accompanied by a bottle of spumante) for a very reasonable Euro 30. We took half the cake home as we were absolutely stuffed! Post lunch we headed back to the pool to relax and digest the lunch, while the kids continued to have fun in the pool. We'll definitely be going back on our next visit to the area. Great value, service, location and food!
