I really appre... read more I've visited many El Nopal locations, and this one is exceptional! Both the service and food meet high standards, and the staff is very friendly. I really appreciate how clean this place is, and the restrooms are always well-maintained. El Nopal is definitely one of my favorites, and this location is no exception. For my birthday, we called ahead and received a complimentary dessert along with a fantastic birthday song from the staff; I couldn't have been more pleased!

T... read more Good food but terrible service—diner beware. Our family of five found ordering difficult, especially for those of us wanting anything different from the menu. The server spoke very little English. Most orders were mostly correct except my daughter’s. She ordered a plain burrito with fries but received a burrito with red sauce and rice instead. We sent it back and got it corrected. When the burrito was delivered again, my daughter asked about her fries. The waitress said, "You have rice." I explained she ordered fries, and the waitress left—we assumed she was bringing the fries. Everyone else finished eating while my daughter waited for her corrected burrito. Hungry, she tried some of the now cold rice since the fries never arrived, eating about half. We hadn’t seen the server since she left to get the fries, so we waited. Finally, she returned with the bill—but no fries. I questioned the extra charge for fries we never received. They argued that since she ate some rice, the charge was justified. After several attempts to explain that she only ate the rice because the fries never came, I realized they didn’t understand customer service. I told them that if I had to pay $3 for a side of rice, I wouldn’t be coming back. They stood their ground and made it clear they didn’t want my future business. I should also mention the dirty bowl we were given for salsa and the plastic found in my wife’s chimi. There were no drink refills either due to the poor service. We love El Nopal and visit different locations often; while we’ve had some bad service before, this experience was by far the worst. We recommend the State Street location over others.
