We had to make a reservation to get a table — which already says a lot about its quality and popularity. The owners truly know their wines and take the time to guide you in making the right choice. You can clearly feel the knowledge and passion behind what they do, which makes the whole experience even better. We also ordered a cheese and charcuterie board, and it was beautifully curated. High-quality products, well-balanced selection, and perfectly paired with the wines. Bravo. Overall, an excellent wine bar that we will definitely return to. Highly recommended. I came to Italy to eat... read more I left mere hours ago, but have not stopped thinking about it since so I must take a few moments to pour praise upon Oratio. Ohh, Oratio! I came to Italy to eat and to discover wines that I had read about, but never tasted. Not only did Oratio provide a well rounded wine list, but a dedicated server; the main level was a little busy, so Alfio lead me to the basement level seating area an incredibly cozy and ambient space, perfect for a small group of friends or a few couples. He patiently listened as I explained what I was looking for, made exceptional recommendations, and took the time to explain the story behind the wines and their grapes. As someone who loves both wine and its culture, I was in heaven! I tried Famóus, a white wine from the famoso grape (one that I had not even read or heard of, let alone tried! and Libello, an expressive red blend of more(! unfamiliar grapes. I also picked up a book one intertwining food, culture, and history to begin reading on my flight back home. I wish I could 've stayed longer, but alas... I am beyond grateful that I happened upon this place. If I could only return to or recommend one, it would be Oratio. Until next time; there will definitely be a next time ! Ciao! We are amateurs when it comes to wine, but we were very keen to have the experience and learn more about the... read more We wanted to experience a wine tasting in Florence. We are amateurs when it comes to wine, but we were very keen to have the experience and learn more about the amazing Tuscan wines. We chose this place because of the good reviews and the reasonable price. However, you need to make a reservation beforehand, even though the place was empty when we arrived. Later, more customers arrived who seemed to have reservations, which is understandable. We visited in the evening and decided to try three wines to have a proper introduction to the experience. Up to that point, everything was good. Unfortunately, our experience was affected by the service. The person presenting the wines made us feel uncomfortable, and he seemed quite annoyed that we did not know much about wine. At times, it felt as though he was mocking us for not knowing what he considered to be “simple things”. This was very disappointing, as we were there to learn and enjoy the experience, not to feel judged. Overall, it was a disappointing experience from a service point of view, which is a shame because we were genuinely excited to discover and appreciate Tuscan wines. In conclusion, if you are an expert in wine, definetly is your place, but if you are not.. better to try other place Price per person: €20–30 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5
