Delicious fish soup, just bread and ham but gorgeous, tuna and escalope, sangria, all delicious, we will definitely be back
On a busy Sunday afternoon we went for the fish and seafood paella and shared a very refreshing mixed salad while waiting. The paella looked and tasted good, with plenty of fish, mussels, clams and squid, although we would have liked more flavor of saffron and garlic. We appreciated that the paella was yellow in color rather than deep red from paprika as sometimes occurs, and we enjoyed the presence of peas, onions and green/red peppers. The rice was a bit liquidy and lacked any bottom crust. But what really concerned us was finding multiple small cubes of what definitely tasted like beef in the paella. If it had been pork or chicken we would have thought our order had been confused with the mixed paella--but beef?? We set most of those pieces aside and enjoyed the rest of the paella until we were too full to continue. It was a huge quantity for two! Our white wine was very good, and despite the unwelcome beef, felt it was an enjoyable meal for the money.
We have passed this restaurant many times on our walks and I was very keen to try the food one evening. We called on the Thursday before Christmas early evening and got a nice outdoor table opposite the kitchen making it nice and warm. We ordered the sea food paella and shared some very nice house white wine and water. While we waited for the paella we enjoyed some bread and garlic sauce which passed the time perfectly. The paella had lots of fresh seafood and was a good size for the two of us to share. The flavours were nice and subtle and it was perfectly seasoned. We hope to return again and try some fresh fish. Good service and value for money.
Excellent food at a reasonable price. Compared to other of the better restaurants in Puerto Cruz, El Bajio is certainly worth visiting. I ordered a tenderloin with mushroom sauce, small french fries and fried vegetables. The steak was tender and juicy and sauce and vegs very tasty. So was the soft and tasty redwine. All at a reasonable price.
Walked past a few times and always looked busy with people queuing ,so gave it a try. Excellent choice, we had a salad, bread and aoli to start all fresh and tasty. I had grilled tuna with Canarian potatoes, portion was about 3 times the size you get in the UK, hubby had spicy king prawns with rice, all the food was delicious, hot and lovely flavours. With a beer and 2 glasses of wine, excellent value at €42. Definitely worth a visit.
