Cook St Cafe - Flinders
Cook St Cafe
Description
In a highly debated culinary landscape, this restaurant offers an intriguing yet inconsistent dining experience. While patrons rave about the fresh fish and chips, they are often let down by other menu items, such as the disappointing souvlaki and average steak sandwich. The much-advertised vanilla slice, once a hallmark of their offerings, has fallen prey to misleading signage, leaving many visitors frustrated. Service has also been a sore point, with reports of an unfriendly proprietor and a lack of attentiveness. Ultimately, diners may find that while some dishes shine, overall quality and service leave much to be desired.

We visited today, 9/11/19, at 11:30 a.m. just to grab a bottle of water and a soft drink, which came to $8.00. The server informed us that there is a $10 minimum to use EFTPOS. I mentioned that I would just pay the minimum and accept the 1% surcharge they claimed applies to all EFT transactions. However, he then added another $2.00 on top of that, despite my statement that there shouldn't be any additional charges.
Went into for her most famous and best vanilla disc, and it was the biggest thing I've ever seen, I give them. it was so big, it could keep its own weight and overturn. had a really nice texture to it. not too sweet, so it wasn't overwhelming. I love that, but wished there were more of it. would be eating again.
Never have I encountered such terrible customer service. My 2 yr old was yelled at by a staff member for accidently bumping the fridge whilst looking in the cake stand.she could've asked me his parent nicely but no she yelled at me too.very rude. Never again.
The quality of F&C varies between awesome and good depending on how recently they've changed the oil. Don't expect great service cos you won't get it. What you will get is good food at Flinders prices
The food was terrible; the chips were overcooked and dark brown, and everything lacked flavor. I ordered three pieces of fish, medium chips, two prawns, two scallops, two potato cakes, a Chiko roll, and two dim sims. The total came to over $65, which is absurd, and when I got home, I realized that the dim sims were missing from the order.
