Stopped by for lunch on a quick trip through town. Food and service were excellent! Food was as good as all the other locations I’ve been to down in the valley and even the original in Brooklyn. Love having this option when I’m visiting Flagstaff!Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. They will give kids a piece of pizza dough to play with while you wait. Such a fun idea! It’s also not super quiet so kids can be themse... View all feedback.
What James Cooper doesn't like about Grimaldi's Pizzeria:
We had a very average visit this weekend. The greeters were excellent and friendly, a great start. Turns out that they were the best part of the experience. The server was very short and curt with well practiced questions but barely listened to the answers. We ordered starters, then ordered a couple pizzas. The starters came out with one pizza, and the rest of the meal trailed behind by several minutes. No explanatio... View all feedback.
The mens bathroom was a mess, and management seemed to not care.
I will not return to this location. The beer on tap- not cold. We always order the Brooklyn so I know how it is prepared. We were served the pizza without ricotta. That’s the primo ingredient. Instead, there was a piece of mozzarella here or there. Very, very little sausage. We had to look for it and if there were five little pieces on your largest pie I wouldn’t be exaggerating. The pizza sauce had a rancid taste. Very bitter and left a really bad taste in our mouths. As for the house salad, even that was screwed up. We had a couple of tiny pieces of mushroom, a pinch of onion and greens dressed with a lemon dressing. This was not your house salad. The place is dead! No one is eating there. Wouldn’t you want to know why? We took our pizza to go and both looked at each other and tossed it. It was that bad. The girl waiting on us at the bar was nice and we took care of her since there wasn’t anyone there but when she came over to give us the bill, we showed her there was no ricotta on the pizza. She looked, pointed and said, I think that’s a little piece there. What she was referring to was a tiny dot of chewy mozzarella. Not up for arguing, we politely paid $60 plus for a wasted meal and left. Why is it that Grimaldi’s in Scottsdale is great, full of patrons, excellent food, real toppings on the pizza and salads with cold beer on tap. You should be ashamed of yourself for taking peoples money and not giving them what your menu clearly reads. We stopped and actually bought a donut across the street trying to get the nasty bitter taste out of our mouths. We didn’t end up sick which I’m thankful for but will never be back again. One if the reasons we were there was to purchase gift cards for Christmas presents. Yeah, that didn’t happen.

The server was very short and curt with well practiced questions but barely listened to the answers. We ordered starters, then ordered a couple pizzas. The starters came out with one pizza, and the rest of the meal trailed behind by several minutes. No explanation why, I don't know if the server even bothered to notice. Our attempts to eat apps and our entrees were interesting. We had no table space and the promised pizza racks never appeared. It was a very lackluster experience.
We had a weird experience. The staff was really wonderful, but the food was really off. Salad was tart with lemon and the pizza had very little toppings. It was unsalted marinara sauce with globs of melted cheese and big holes with only bland sauce. And after one piece it became limp and soggy it turned into a glob. Maybe they had an off day, but I wasn't a fan.Our meal was comped, but the manager made sure to let us know everyone but us liked their food. We thought that was unnecessary and a little snarky.
It's a great upscale pizza place with cold beer. Nice atmosphere. Very New Yorkish. My wife and I love this place.
