Amelindo - FIUMICINO

We all loved the food, we had risotto agli scampi, risotto alla pescatora, sauté di cozze and some sushi. We left very satisfied until 30 minutes later when my mother started feeling nauseous and was violently sick. It was so bad we had to take my mother to the hospital and the diagnosis was food poisoning. We told the doctor “the food was actually nice!” And his reply was “It is enough if you eat one little bad piece of fish and in this heat it is easy” My mother is still weak and recovering. What a shame, this has been my favourite restaurant for years!

We first fell upon this local charming restaurant right at the beachfront of Fumicino, 9 years ago when we had to spend the night in town before a flight. It was recommended by locals and was everything we expected. A seafood restaurant, with an informal ambiance, many local families with the kids waiting up in line at 9 pm. The food was superb. Plentiful very fresh and delicious. We came back last night, having a layover in transit for a few hours, and it was just as good. It opened at 7:30 pm so we spent the time on the beach drinking wine and Aperol. The food was fresh, plentiful, reasonably priced and the service excellent. The proprietor made sure to call a taxi for us to take us back to the airport. Exactly what we needed to round up our 10 day trip to Italy.

An overnight stay in Fiumicino happily brought me to this excellent dining establishment. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. I watched the diners around me and saw a lot of smiling and heads nodding with satisfaction. The location along the lungomare is a special added attraction. I also appreciated the possibility of mezze porzioni pasta dishes to leave for a main dish. I told friends that I wished I were staying for a week in Fiumicino so that I could back and eat here everyday!

Place really simple but well managed because the fish is fresh and staff is always available, classic dishes but plentiful and well cooked
