It was a Saturday night and we were at a loss for where to eat in Madison. Last minute find and last minute reservation resulted in a great meal. Our server was so attentive and very accommodating. She even read the note I have on Open Table about my son’s fish allergy. I was very impressed. My family ordered the duck entree, short rib and white fish. All were very excellently prepared. What HeatherO doesn't like about Quivey's Grove Stone House:
The food and service are very good here, but actually dining is a miserable experience. Or first trip, we were seated alone in an empty room. The only person we saw was our server. It was boring and lonely. The second time, we came with two friends, and we were seated in a very small room that might have been either a nursery or pantry. Excellent food and service. Great ambiance for our Valentines dinner.
We were unimpressed with the seeding process. We had made a reservation wish the hostess could not find. Not our fault, that we were sad at a pretty crappy table and in the way of the servers. That absolutely dampened our experience as we were constantly in the way.
We’ve been to Quivey’s many times over the years and have never been disappointed! Excellent, fresh food expertly prepared and served in a quaint space makes for a lovely, romantic evening!
I would recommend the Stable for food, bar atmosphere ! The Stone House seems to be for the 80 crowd or old supper club groupies.
We love Quivey's, it makes us feel like we are coming home. The Stone House is so unique, every room has its own ambiance, we have eaten in every room. We have tried almost everything on the menu and have always been pleased. The stuffed mushrooms are delicious, I just wish they served more than 4. The muffins are wonderful, a tip save it for breakfast the next day because you will be stuffed when you leave even without eating the muffin. Each main course is named after a historical Wisconsinite and the story associated makes one want to order the entree. The service is always well timed, attentive, and friendly.
