The Bistro
Description
Located in the heart of downtown Findlay, the Fullhart Block building at 407/409 S. Main houses the elegant Bistro on Main Restaurant and Thomas Jewelers. Step inside and admire the original mahogany and walnut wood bar, complete with an authentic French plate mirror extending its length. The restaurant is surrounded by original brick walls, creating an old world atmosphere that whisks you back to a more graceful era. The building, constructed in 1863 by Adam Fullhart, has been home to over 20 businesses over the years. Despite some changes, the historic charm of the Bistro on Main remains intact, making it a truly unique dining experience.

The brunch pop-up I recently stumbled upon felt like a serendipitous culinary discovery. It exuded an air of laid-back charm with a menu that boasted comforting favorites with a gourmet twist. The standout dish was undoubtedly their chicken and waffles. The waffle was a perfect amalgamation of crisp exterior and a fluffy inside, harmoniously complemented by succulent chicken that was fried to golden perfection. Every bite was a delightful play on textures and flavors, with a hint of sweet and savory that lingered on the palate. But it would be an oversight not to mention their innovative French toast sticks. This wasn’t the typical breakfast item many are accustomed to. Each stick was an indulgent masterpiece, crispy on the outside with a melt-in-your-mouth center that hinted at a blend of cinnamon and vanilla. They were the epitome of brunch decadence. I can only hope this pop-up decides to lay down permanent roots, for brunches like these should be a regular Sunday indulgence.

This restaurant is a gem. It kind of feels like a speakeasy turned Italian restaurant. The Crispy Duck is amazing. If you've never tried duck, imagine chicken but better. The crispiness really elevates it and is probably the best way to eat duck. I'm just really hoping I don't make a typo while typing duck because that would be embarrassing. I'm not a huge alcohol drinker, but the drinks are very good. Not only are the drinks very good, but the combination of the cocktails and duck in your mouth is flavor overload.
