Was Chelsea at Fields Station a mag?
We didn't stay in the little hotel, but we did get some gas and one of their famous milkshakes from the attached store. The folks there couldn't have been nicer and let us park a car for a few nights. Last place to get gas before heading north. Really appreciate the kindness, and the milkshakes : Service: 5 View all feedback.

What Larry E dislikes about Fields Station:
After going through the reviews praising their famous milkshakes, I have to say I was a bit disappointed. It took longer to prepare my shake than it took for me to finish my burger. I ordered a malt, and it was just average. The burger wasn't particularly impressive either. I believe the main reason the milkshake fell flat was the use of soft-serve ice cream instead of hand-scooped ice cream. I can find much tastier... View all feedback.

Unfortunately, I only encountered the owner for the first time a couple of months ago, and it was a disappointing experience. She verbally attacked me and refused me service simply because she was having a stressful day. It's disheartening to say that a place that held so many memories for me is now tainted. This situation may always be a matter of differing accounts, and I haven't posted a negative review until now for fear of her retaliating in response. However, I encourage you, the consumer, to make your own judgment based on the multitude of reviews that echo my experience. Don’t give her your time or money just because the location is remote; nobody deserves to be treated disrespectfully. Please make your decision based on the evidence provided here and on other review platforms. Rooms: 1, Service: 1, Location: 1.

The food here is always delicious, and the staff is very friendly. I do wish they would offer a mini burger so I could have room for a milkshake as well!

Ignore the bad reviews, as someone who knows the owners, they won’t put up with people and their bad attitudes or lack of common sense. If you are friendly to them, they are always very nice back. Though the prices are a little touchy, they are in the middle of nowhere and it’s likely a pain to get stuff shipped there. We come back every year, and some people want luxury, this place is for people looking for a good time. Service: 5

Fields Station has an unmarked, blue painted water spigot but they charge a bundle to fill an RV about as much as a hamburger/shake lunch. French Glen is the next settlement north of Fields Station, 52 miles away. Fill up your water tank FREE at French Glen picnic area. And enjoy the friendly vibes, much nicer than Fields Station.

Stayed in the motel a couple of nights ago. It would be nice to have more privacy; the blinds are in poor condition, and curtains would be appreciated. Rooms: 3

I want to start by saying that this is the first review I've written in a long time. I’ve had my share of bad experiences at other places, but this one truly stood out—not just for me, but for our entire group, becoming the main topic of conversation for days. The owner or manager of this establishment is among the rudest and most disrespectful individuals I’ve ever encountered. She completely ruined the meal and turned the experience into something dreadful, making the food less appealing. Given its small size and good reputation, I expected much better customer service. If there were an option to give fewer than one star, I would take it.

We traveled to Alvord to see the eclipse, but unfortunately, our view was obstructed by clouds. However, a small group of us decided to stop by Fields Station for some food and fuel. The store and station were packed, and despite the hectic situation, the staff remained friendly and helpful. I ordered a burger and a shake. The gentleman at the register warned me it would take a while, and he was right—it did take some time, but the wait was definitely worth it! I was relieved I didn't need to refuel since gas was $7.85 a gallon, but if you do need fuel, this is your last chance.

A special little place. Thanks to Selena for the great shakes!

The only place within MILES for a restaurant meal. The milkshakes are something they are known for and they are delicious. Employees are very friendly. There's some food and beverages in the store and gas pumps out front. No posted prices. Bathrooms are pit toilets out front.

Wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the burgers and shakes but I was making time north. If I'm ever passing through again I am going to make time to stop. Cold drinks were COLD and I was thankful for the gas to keep the tank topped off.

We stopped at Fields Station after a three-day camping trip, and it was bustling with a diverse crowd. We had heard about this spot from popular YouTubers and were eager to try their famous shakes! Just a heads up: this place gets extremely busy on weekends! Even though we waited an hour for one shake, it was totally worth it! If you have some extra time and don’t mind standing in line, definitely give it a try. It’s a great opportunity to strike up conversations with fellow campers (which we did)! You never know who you might meet. The staff is incredibly friendly, even amidst the hustle and bustle. Fields Station is a fantastic gateway to the stunning Steen Mountains and the Alvord Desert.

My friend and I were on a 1000+ mile motorcycle trip and decided to stop here along the way. I had heard great things about their milkshakes, so I was eager to try one. Unfortunately, we arrived just five minutes after they had stopped serving shakes for the day. However, the girl making them kindly went out of her way to whip up the best Butterfinger milkshake I’ve ever tasted. They are very accommodating to motorcyclists and have recently added a new pump with 91 octane gas. The service was fantastic and the staff was incredibly friendly. It’s a charming little spot in the middle of nowhere!

The menu is somewhat limited, but everything is prepared exceptionally well. We will definitely stop by again the next time we’re in the area. There are only two tables and a bar top for indoor seating, but we didn't have to wait at all. They also offer an outdoor patio for dining, weather permitting. There is ample parking available. Just a note: the restrooms are vault toilets located on the roadside. They were clean, but make sure to bring your own toilet paper just in case.

I want to share my thoughts on Fields Station. The rooms we stayed in rated about a 6 or 7 out of 10. The meals, however, were quite good. We enjoyed breakfast on our first day, and when we returned to pick up our vehicles, we had a nice lunch as well. The main issue I encountered was with their cancellation policy, which I found to be quite burdensome. They advertise a 48-hour cancellation policy, but then mention that during hunting season, there is essentially no ability to cancel. However, they don't specify when hunting season actually begins or ends; for them, it runs from August to December. I attempted to cancel an additional room a month prior to our stay, but I was unsuccessful. I made sure to mention that I booked online through their website, but they told me the details were in the fine print of the cancellation policy. I argued that they should clearly specify the dates, as it requires a phone call to understand their definition of hunting season. Ultimately, they refused to accommodate my request and charged my card. This situation feels incredibly unjust.

I believe the main reason the milkshake fell flat was the use of soft-serve ice cream instead of hand-scooped ice cream. I can find much tastier shakes and malts at 31 Flavors (Baskin Robbins). So, while this place does okay considering its remote location, with the nearest competitor being 100 miles away, I wouldn’t rave about it. Trust me...
