Was Shira Schwartz at Dar Hatim a mag?
Can’t recommend this place enough. Amazing service from the moment we got picked up in a car from our Riad a relief after all the walking in the Medina) We felt so at home and welcome in their house and the food was amazing. The Moroccan salads were slightly different to everything we had in a good way), we loved the lentils. As for the mains the lamb tajine was great! I’m gluten free so they made sure the menu worke... What Ivo Schnyder dislikes about Dar Hatim:
Cozy restaurant and friendly staff. It's a fixed menu: good starters, so-so main course (chicken tajine) and dessert. Expensive for the food eaten. Slightly hidden location. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: MAD 250–300 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 View all feedback.
I had an authentic Moroccan dining experience in a stunningly beautiful setting. The kitchen was top-notch and the lamb tagine, made from a family recipe, was a standout dish. The restaurant felt like a living museum and was definitely the highlight of my trip to Morocco.
Laying all my cards on the table, I must admit that I am the kind of person who often forgets to leave a Google review, despite my best intentions. However, the incredible meal and exceptional hospitality we experienced at this restaurant left such an impression on me that I simply had to write about it. From the moment we entered through the somewhat unconventional entrance, we were amazed by the intricate wooden designs on the deck. While we had read reviews praising the beauty of the craftsmanship, nothing could have prepared us for the level of artistry and detail we encountered. The hostess, Karima, was absolutely delightful. She exuded warmth, friendliness, and humor, making us feel like old friends rather than mere patrons. The menu featured hearty, flavorful dishes that felt like authentic family recipes. As someone who has visited Morocco frequently, I was thrilled to taste unique dishes featuring lamb and sweets that I had never encountered before. However, Karima's take on the classic Lamb tagine stood out as the absolute best I have ever tried. Despite the demands of daily cooking and serving, Karima still found the energy to give us a tour of the guest house she runs with her husband, Fouad. The couple's dedication to restoring and maintaining their business, as well as their evident pride in their three children, was truly inspiring. Fouad, who was kind, wise, laid-back, and friendly, drove us back to our riad, sharing stories of his upbringing in the medina and how it has changed over the years. Beyond the outstanding meal that we enjoyed, it was the passion and commitment that Karima and Fouad showed for their business and family that left a lasting impression on us. Meeting them was a pleasure, and we only regretted not booking a stay at their guest house. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant or staying at their guest house for those who want to support local, family-run Moroccan businesses during these challenging times.
A unique restaurant in Fes that stands out from the rest. Karima and Fouad welcomed us into their home restaurant with open arms, treating us like family. Navigating through the bustling streets of the medina, we found ourselves at the doors of two riads that opened up to a beautifully detailed space, reminiscent of a museum. The dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary, with Karima showcasing her talent as the queen of lamb. The lamb dishes were unmatched in flavor and quality. We had the pleasure of trying the lamb tagine, lamb skewers, and lamb pastilla, all of which were delicious. Karima and Fouad's warmth, passion, and culinary talents made the experience truly special. The only thing that could have been better would have been staying in the riad or the next door building they have renovated. We can't wait to come back for another unforgettable meal.
Restaurant was a tourist trap and ridiculously expensive. Stay away...
Wonderful New Year's Eve. Thanks to all of Karima’s family
